Regardless of style or intent, a beautifully designed space should be a reflection of you and make you happy as soon as you walk in the door. It should feel like home. Every client has different needs and tastes and making them happy when they walk through their door is why I love decorating and design.
After a long discussion with my client, I think I can capture the style she envisioned for her bedroom makeover as “traditional with a southern feel.” To achieve this look, I used neutral layers and textures mixed with different types of wood and metal with a touch of something old. These pieces should feel that you carefully chose each item and collected them over time; not like something you pulled from a warehouse showroom with no personality.
Here is the look of the main pieces selected for my client’s bedroom.
Ceiling light | Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee | Wallpaper | Wall Sconce | Bed | Nightstand | Emerald Velvet Pillow | Ebony Velvet Pillow | Check in Charcoal Pillow | Rug | Floor Mirror | Quilt
A Traditional Bedroom With a Southern feel
The four poster bed, beautiful pillows, and amazing wallpaper achieves the desired southern feel. Yes! Wallpaper is back and bigger than ever! It is going to be the perfect accent wall behind the bed to give this room the character it is lacking. The layering of bedding & pillows will cozy the room up and soften the space.
In future posts, I will show you how MW Designs pulls this space together. Many pictures and videos will follow!
See you in July for the completed look!
