Beautiful, Laid-Back, Colorful, and Care Free are a few words to describe this perfect little Surf town.

Food
I love to stop off at the shrimp trucks before I start venturing into town. Today, I stopped off at Macky’s and ordered the Lemon Pepper Shrimp. It was amazing but can get pretty busy. The food is so good though that the line is entirely worth it. You dine on picnic tables with roosters and chickens surrounding you hoping to get your leftover platter. My son loves the company and thinks it’s the greatest.

We then had to stop off at another favorite place to eat. Kono’s serves the absolute best breakfast burrito, or “bombers” as they call them, with homemade sauces (my favorite is the Avocado Cilantro Sauce). If you are a big fan of their food, they will offer you 25% off for life. The only catch is you have to tattoo their pig emblem somewhere on your body. Yes! People actually do this, and they have a mural of pictures to prove it.

Waialua Bakery was our newest discovery after leaving Kono’s. This is a family run cafe, and they have a farm in Mokuleia that grows their own fruits and vegetables. Everything they can’t produce they source from local farmers. It’s homemade and fresh, and I couldn’t help but try their amazing cookies. I am still dreaming about the Coconut Sugar Cookie!
Outside the bakery was a detailed mural of all the North Shore surf spots.

SHOPPING
One of my favorite boutiques on the island is Pineapples. They carry some of the best jewelry and lovely, beachy dresses. Every time I enter, I am always welcomed with a friendly face. I stopped in to say hello and to see if they had any new earrings. As a surprise to no one, I walked out with a bag of goodies.
The Haleiwa Store Lots is a new shopping area and also a new favorite hangout of mine. I made a quick stop to look at the cute boutiques, get my son a shaved ice, and visit my favorite coffee shop. On most days you can hear musicians in the courtyard, and there is plenty of shaded areas to sit under to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the island.

This breathtaking view was a perfect way to end the day, and I genuinely feel blessed living in this beautiful place. I know living here isn’t forever and I want to make the most of every day.
