Hi! My name is Francis, the person behind FJF the blog! Welcome to my first summer outdoor living Tour! I am very excited to join Michelle and the rest of these talented ladies.
Summer Outdoor Living Tour
(Deck Area)
Two years ago we remodeled our deck and since have slowly added furniture and decor to create our own little outdoor getaway! My husband and I love coming out here, especially early in the morning before the kids are up and enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in the summer evenings.
Our home has a very transitional style; I love combining traditional pieces along with modern elements. I carried this style throughout the house and also in our outdoor space. If you follow me on Instagram @francis_j_fick, you would know how much I love the color blue! We use a lot of blues and grays in our house. I feel like blue is a great one that goes well with any other color.
At first, I wasn’t too sure about getting a blue couch for our outdoor area, I was a little worried that it would be too much, but once it got delivered and set up I loved how vibrant and colorful it looked, not to mention how easy it hides stains and dirt.
I wanted our space to be very colorful, so I added pops of green and orange with pillows. I got the two palm tree pillows from home goods and the other blue and orange ones from target.
I wish I had a green thumb, but unfortunately, plants don’t really stay alive at our house. Instead, I use a couple of artificial ones to add pops of greenery.
We love entertaining or eating outdoors as a family. Our table is a little old, we got it around five years ago shortly after moving into this house, and although I would love to get a new one, this one still works just fine!
One of my friends gave me these hydrangeas from her yard and I thought they would look beautiful as a centerpiece out here.
One of my tips when entertaining or eating outdoors is to use plastic plates, easy to clean and non-breakable.
I love these plates I recently bought, I found the white with blue specks at Target, and the cute palm tree ones I got at Michaels on sale for $1.29! Love when I see a good deal, don’t you?
Thank you for joining me on my first outdoor tour.
Tomorrow on the “Summer Outdoor Living” tour is Jessica Mclain. Her classic and fun style is prominent on her cozy patio. She wanted her outdoor area to feel like an extension of her home and a place to relax & have fun with family.
