One Room Challenge Elegant & Whimsical Girl’s Bedroom Reveal

Check out the eight-week One Room Challenge of Madeleine’s Whimsical & Elegant Bedroom. I have wanted to makeover this room since we moved into our home 3.5 years ago. This bedroom was a labor of love and I couldn’t have completed it without the help of my husband and dad. With a creative plan, some long weekends, lots of paint, and the layering of soft girly pieces, this room turned into one of my favorite rooms in our home. I am so happy with the way it turned out & I hope you enjoy it too.

The One Room Challenge is a widely anticipated biannual event. It was started by Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home, and the media sponsor is Better Homes & Gardens. Each round, 20 featured designers will transform a space and document the process while sharing their sources and advice. Many guest participants will join the fun and also transform a room in 8 weeks. This challenge has so much interior design inspiration, ideas, and so much encouragement.

Before

Let’s have a quick reminder of how this boring spare bedroom looked before I began this challenge to turn it into Madeleine’s big girl room. This bedroom was the leftover room and a place that stored all of the items I didn’t love. It’s also the last room in our home with the awful cream color covering every wall in our house when we moved in.

I always create a design board to visualize what a room will look like when completed. Of course, changes are made when the process starts, but the overall feel stays the same.

Below is the look I wanted for Madeleine’s new big girl room. The plans were to create a light & airy space with whimsical and elegant touches! The color Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore has such a soft & welcoming feel; it sets the tone for her room. I decided to carry this color up to the ceiling and I’m so glad I did. It finishes it off and makes the room feel bigger & cozier.

After Bedroom Makeover

My parent’s stayed in her new room last week and my mom said she felt like she was sleeping in a French Jewelry Box. I love that!And for now on, that’s what I will refer to it as.
