Hello! I’m Michelle, creator of MW Designs (formerly known as Diamonds or Pearls). Thank you all for following along on my 4th annual Christmas Home Tour. This truly is my favorite time of year and I look forward to hosting this tour so much. I wanted to thank all of the amazingly talented women for opening their homes and allowing us to peek inside for the holidays. It’s great to find inspiration in how others pour love into their homes & celebrate the season.
Welcome to my home! I hope when you leave, you feel the joy of the season.

Winter Wonderland Home Tour
This will be our third year in our Virginia home and it is slowly starting to feel like us! My style is traditional with a modern & rustic twist. I love to blend foxhunting touches that remind me of so many cute little towns in VA.

Entryway
This is the most wonderful time of the year and it brings me so much joy! The ambiance of the Christmas lights, the smells of the season, and the beautiful greenery are a few of my favorites things.

The main tree in my entryway got a little makeover this year! I decided not to add any of my red ornaments or plaid ribbon. I kept it neutral and layered metallics, green, and black.

A way to give your tree a new update every year is to switch out the ribbon. I love this black and green velvet I found at a local nursery called Merrifield’s. It’s my favorite place in Northern Virginia to find beautiful faux flowers and ribbon.

One of my favorite prints is leopard! (Tasteful leopard)

Living Room
To the right, as you enter our home, you will see our living room. This room really sums up my decorating style. It’s a blend of old & new, masculine & feminine, and ornate & simple pieces. It also displays my collection of black and white prints.

My apple arrangement with fresh greenery is probably my favorite in my home. I used the faux apples stems for my fall kitchen arrangement and decided I didn’t want to pack them away. I love the pop of green against my dark (Cyberspace by Sherwin Williams) wall. It also gives this space a southern feel, which I love!

I collect vintage Christmas postcards and received these from my mom. I placed them in my Civil War cabinet.

Dining Room
My Dining Room is my favorite space decked out for the holidays. I added a tree with blue velvet ribbon, berries/fruit, and white & mercury glass ornaments. I’m really looking forward to our Christmas dinner in this room.

This is my first year adding a tree in here and I have to say, I love it! The blue velvet ribbon and white ornaments are the perfect touches to pull the living room colors into this space.

Kitchen
My kitchen is understated, with very minimal decor! I love having lots of workspace for making cookies and preparing our annual Christmas day dinner.

Family Room
This is the most used room in our home. Although I didn’t add a tree to this space, I still think it has the cozy factor. We like to have a fire lit and of course, a favorite Christmas show going around this time of year.

The rustic woodsy feel gives this room a laid back vibe for the holidays.

Master Bedroom
Our Master Bedroom is a space I have never shared before with my readers. It is still a work in progress, but the cozy factor is finally getting there.

This is the first year I have added a tree in our bedroom and I love seeing the lights at night! This is also the space that I added the red I took away from the entry.

I also love the pop of red against the dark walls.

Madeleine’s Nursery
I went with a whimsical princess theme for Madeleine’s Nursery. Her flocked tree adorned with blush, white, and gold ornaments give it that magical feel. It’s so sweet seeing her eyes light up when she sees her tree.

I added roses and eucalyptus to the top of her tree to soften the look.

This adorable gift was made for her by her grandpa and grandma Whitener.

Joseph’s Room
My son’s room has changed a little since last year’s tour. He has a bigger bed, a new bookshelf to showcase his collections, and some fresh artwork. It was time for him to get an updated space.

This is Joseph’s nostalgia tree! He’s been collecting ornaments since he was a little guy, we had to upgrade him to a bigger tree last year.

We love this Santa Face Advent Calendar from Pottery Barn. You can shop it HERE.

Ambiance of Christmas Lights

One of my favorite memories we spent Christmas in the mountains in Telluride, CO. We skied, enjoyed quality family time and spent Christmas Day eating at a restaurant on top of the mountain listening to the most beautiful Christmas music. It was magical and truly felt like we were in a snow globe.
