Merry Christmas! My name is Jocelyn and welcome to my home in Northern VA. I love the period between Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve. The entire season is full of beauty, lots of time with family and friends and great food. Cooking is a passion of mine and the holidays are the best time to entertain. I hope that anyone who walks in the door feels welcome.
Twelve Days of Christmas Tour
We bought our house earlier this year and have renovated all the living spaces. The house was built in the late 80s, so updates were a must. The kitchen and family room were transformed with a full renovation. We opened the space by relocating a powder room and removing walls.
I decorate the house for children, I have two, and all the family and friends we will host. I love everything red at Christmas and I use lots of it. I also collect Christmas trees and they are everywhere. I have many pieces that are from my sister who passed last year. She loved Christmas and her style was whimsical, colorful, full of glitter and always shiny. I have incorporated many of her things and they are likely those that make you smile. My style is more traditional and I don’t use a lot of color in our home, so for Christmas, red and fun are top of the list.
We have 2 Christmas trees this year. A Red and Silver tree to welcome guests as they enter the house.
Our living room has taken a more formal tone with silver and white. It is the space most like “me” with crystal, sparkle and lots of silver.
The dining room is a more formal space, but red and lots of candles are a must.
The prints in the dining room are my husband’s parents and were from a trip to Egypt in the 1970s.
The crystal Christmas trees lining the center of the table were also my husband’s fathers. He collected them and I love having them at the table. My in-laws are both gone, so I am glad to have these pieces from them.
The kitchen remodel allowed us to bring light into the space, modernize the finishes and have a 48-inch stove; a cooks dream. We refinished the wood floors with an ebony stain which showcases the white cabinets and quartz countertops.

I love the picture in the family room “Joy to the World.” It fits perfectly in the space, looks beautiful but most importantly, “Joy to the World” is my very favorite Christmas carol.

The tree in this room is our family tree with ornaments collected from family or gathered from travels. Every ornament is colorful and most tell a story, you just have to ask. I collect Santa ornaments and Christmas trees, but all characters are welcome.

I love the house lit up at nighttime.
My Holiday tradition is not to be bound by traditions. I want to make the holiday’s happy and fun and always open to new friends, options and traditions.
Tomorrow on the “Twelve Days of Christmas” tour is Lisa Brenneke from MO. Lisa hopes you enjoy her vintage Christmas on the farm. She loves everything primitive, vintage, eclectic and refurbished. Her home is a collectors dream come true! You can feel the love she pours into her home and family. You’re sure to get into the holiday spirit after touring Lisa’s farmhouse.
