After dusting the cobwebs off of this project, I can finally say after months, the basement bathroom mini makeover is complete! I have wanted to tackle this bathroom project since we moved into our home four years ago.
With this being the basement bathroom, it didn’t make sense to do a big expensive makeover. I opted for inexpensive cosmetic changes that give it a more youthful and fun feel but still flow with the rest of our home.
Design Board
When I started envisioning this space, I knew I wanted it to be light & airy. The feel needed to be fun since this was the bathroom by the game room and media/library room, but it still had to flow with our traditional home. Blending vintage prints would help with that, and adding some fun patterned peel & stick tile would add that fun factor.
Basement Bathroom Makeover
What Stayed
The original cabinet stayed and was painted a green-black which instantly gave it a facelift. I replaced the faucet and cabinet pulls, adding a more modern touch to this once-dated space.
What’s New
I originally picked out Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. It is such a beautiful creamy white, but with no natural light in this space, it pulled a light green undertone into this space. I decided to repaint it using Accessible Beige by Sherwin Williams at 50% on the walls and 100% on the ceiling and doors.
The builder mirror had to go, and I replaced it with a simple gold one, and the once-off-centered 80’s light fixture was replaced with a more updated fixture.
The peel and stick patterned tile made the most significant impact in this bathroom. This project was so easy and affordable too.
How It Works
Now, this basement bathroom is not an eyesore every time I walk by it. It has the perfect blend of vintage and modern touches using old and new pieces. I love the floor’s fun touch, giving this space a more youthful feel! I now love how it blends with the rest of the basement and feels more like us.

Here is a better view of the light fixture. This inexpensive fixture has an expensive look and feel! You can shop this fixture HERE.
I love this Abraham Lincoln print by Roscoe Misselhorn. My mom found this print at an antique store in MO and I have been waiting for the perfect place for him.
