Hey there! I’m Jessica from a little town south of St. Louis, Missouri. You may know me from my blog The Preppy Christian.
Summer Outdoor Living Tour
Living right in town can have its difficulties when planning an outdoor area, so the first thing my husband and I did when we moved in almost a decade ago was put up a privacy fence.
We recently got a pool for my 6-year-old and that meant spending tons of time outside relaxing!
We got to thinking that we really needed a revamp on the patio furniture we’ve had for the same amount of time as the fence. So, the table received a fresh coat of black spray paint.
Then, we added an umbrella and slapped on some cute new striped cushions with palm leaf pillows to finish the look.
The space still needed a little something, so instead of the backbreaking job planting tons of flowers can be, we just grabbed a few super cute pots (even a bucket!) and went to work.
It ended up being a great idea because after we planted the flowers, I could mix and match the different colors until I got the look I wanted around the patio! We wanted to stick to a small budget but still keep it true to my classic and fun style. While it is still a work in progress, it has definitely served its purpose wonderfully so far!
We enjoy relaxing by the pool during the day and grilling while our little boy and Weimaraner run around the yard in the evening!
It is so nice to have an area that finally feels like an extension of our living room.
My tip for the low-key gal like me, or even the Susie Homemaker I strive to be but never will be is this: Try to use the furniture you already have before going out and spending a small fortune on an outdoor space. Use spray paint for touch-ups or even complete redos. If you are going to spend money, spend it on the umbrella, cushions, and pillows to bring the space to life.
Thanks to Diamonds or Pearls for including me among all of these wonderful outdoor spaces!

Very cute! Black and white strips made a big impact !
Jessica, the black and white stripes on your cushions and the green floral pillows look great together. I liked the way you grouped the pots of multi colored flowers around the edge of your patio. So inviting!
Jessica, your space looks so cozy and comfortable. I love your pots with all the beautiful flowers. Very inviting. ??
I love spray paint too! The cushions and palm print pillows look great together. I like your idea of grouping your pots so you can move them around. I never would have thought of hanging flower baskets from a tree. So cute, Jessica!
?Jessica, the black and white stripes really make a statement along with the vibrant green accents. ?
