Beautiful Wood Trim for Madeleine’s Room
Welcome to MW Designs and week 4 of the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge. Today I am so excited to share with you the wood trim finished in Madeleine’s room. I have wanted to do this for years, and I can’t believe how much it elevated this space.

What is the One Room Challenge?
The One Room Challenge is a widely anticipated biannual event. It was started by Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home, and the media sponsor is Better Homes & Gardens. Each round, 20 featured designers will transform a space and document the process while sharing their sources and advice. Many guest participants will join the fun and also transform a room in 8 weeks. This challenge has so much interior design inspiration, ideas, and so much encouragement.
Before Bedroom Walls
This cream color covered every wall in our home when we purchased it over three years ago and this was the last room I needed to paint. I was so happy to finally cover it up and get a more soothing color on the wall. Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore was the winner and now my favorite color in the house.
Adding the Wood Trim
The trim elevates the space and adds an elegant layer it was missing.
I’m not going to claim to be a DIY’er, but my husband sure is handy. Maybe one day I will pull out a saw on my own, but I truly hated to mess up the cuts. Wood is so expensive right now!
He drew up a quick plan and we got right to work. It was honestly easier than I thought it would be. Once we got our momentum, it took us about half a day to complete.
The Completed Wood Trim
All I can say is, I’m in love! Every time I walk past her new room, I’m in awe! I want this trim in every room of my house! Can you believe the difference it makes?

My fellow Washingtonians are so inspiring! Check out our feature for the ORC in the Washingtonian magazine. Very exciting!
