Hello friends, I am so excited to show you what I have been working on at MW Designs this week.
My client’s were dreaming of a mid-century study with a moody feel—a room they could share with masculine and feminine details. So I was very excited when Carpet One Floor & Home, a nationwide cooperative of flooring retailers, asked me to design a mood board using two samples from their top 10 trending products. The flooring would be the perfect starting point for my client’s new study.
Mid-Century Modern Mood Board
I always create a mood board to visualize how I want the space to look & feel. When finding inspiration for a mood board, I usually start with a rug, wallpaper, material, artwork, etc. I pull my ideas from these items using colors and texture. In this case, it was with this gorgeous pashmina that pairs beautifully with the flooring.
I wanted this room to have a simple, warm, mid-century feel with layers of masculine & feminine elements to finish the space. The colors from the pashmina set the tone for the room.
A gorgeous moody color called Tarrytown Green by Benjamin Moore adds that warm touch to the whole space.
Blending black, grays, whites, distressed wood tones, and gold accents add more warmth and texture.
A Velvety burnt auburn desk chair and an executive desk in a black wash poplar add a beautiful layer and define the style.
I pulled in all the other objects to convey the feel and look I wanted on the mood board. The bust adds sophistication and the old bronze wall sconce adds that more masculine touch.
Carpet One Floor & Home
Carpet One sent me two samples from their top trending 10 products to use in my design and as a starting point for my mid-century modern study.
If you are unsure of the type of flooring you would like for your home, you can always order carpet or wood samples from their website to be shipped to your home.
Monterey Heights by Rustic River in Nature Trail
The first is this gorgeous hardwood in the color Nature Trail by Monterey Heights.
This white oak low gloss plank is beautiful with a UV-Cured Aluminum Oxide finish. This engineered hardwood is more structurally stable with 3 to 5 layers of laminate than real hardwood. For a seamless look in your home, this would look gorgeous installed wall to wall in every room.
Summit Point by Relax It’s Less in Ash Creek
The second sample is a carpet called Summit Point by Relax It’s Less in Ash Creek.
This carpet is an excellent choice if you want a softer, more cushioned surface for a room. The color Ash Creek is a great gray neutral that would work with warm or cool tones and is very versatile. The small diamond pattern would add interest to the space without being too busy and be durable for a high traffic area. For information on the summit point Titanium series warranty click HERE.
