Before & After: Small Back Entryway Makeovers

I love a good before & after picture! It’s exciting seeing how a small space can transform with just a cute built-in, wallpaper, and a new light.

This small entryway in my home was a drop zone for everything! It had no organization to it and was not very welcoming to enter. With just a few new changes, this is now one of my favorite little spaces in my home.

Before:

You will see this space transform! Like I said before, it is truly amazing what paint, wallpaper, and a new light fixture can do for any space.

With adding a DIY (Thank you Joe Whitener) bench and hook area, this space is so much more functional. There is a place for everything and there seems to be so much more room.

The built-in color choices were hard because I thought I wanted to go darker with this color called Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams, but it didn’t look right in the space with the doors already painted that color.

This gorgeous wallpaper by Serena & Lilly is what really added character & color to this area. It’s a long story how I ended up settling with this pattern, but I can thank my mom for it! My dad was so kind to install it for me. You can shop this Serena & Lilly wallpaper HERE.

I decided on a lighter color called Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore. It brightened this small area and matched well with the existing trim work.

Now this space is bright, cheerful, and functional! It’s one of my favorite spots in my home.

Small Back Entryway Refresh:

While visiting my parents last month, I decided to help them with a little back entryway refresh. This is where they enter the garage and also have a pantry.

We couldn’t do a built-in due to the pantry door, but we could still add some small details to make it more welcoming. If you missed their beautiful MO home tour, you can view it HERE.

Before:

We added these gorgeous corbels my mom found and painted them white. Then added this gold hook rack from Pottery barn for a place to hang purses and jackets. These two pieces add character and function to this space.

The antique fox hunting picture was a local find and the cute rectangle photo was just too unique not to buy! I then painted the doors Gauntlet Gray by Sherwin Williams to add some warmth to this small space.

Now my parent’s have a more inviting back entryway that matches the rest of their home.

This simple flush mount light was the perfect choice for this small space.

No matter the size of your space, you can still make it functional and beautiful by adding details that reflect the rest of your home. Remember, paint and new light fixtures are an excellent place to start with your next makeover.
