Adding Curb Appeal

It has been a while! I am sure you could hear crickets from my site! I hope you all are doing well and staying safe. It has been a strange few months and finding inspiration has been very hard. Getting outside, enjoying the fresh air, and spending time with family has been so important during this time. That is exactly what I have been doing while adding more curb appeal to our home.

I have always said that the curb appeal of your home is what makes the first impression and sets the stage for what’s inside.

Here’s what we have been up to lately to add more curb appeal to our home.

Garage Door Hardware

This decorative hardware is magnetic, takes about 5 minutes to install, and is a great way to add more charm to a home. I instantly was happy with the results and love that it was an inexpensive improvement.

Next up will be changing out that spotlight above the garage door. I have my eye on a couple of beautiful lights. I’m also contemplating on painting our garage door Cyber Space by Sherwin Williams to match the side door. What are your thoughts?

New Landscaping

This area of our home is where all of the weeds loved to gather. It just always looked messy to me. With a little hard work and a few plants/mulch, I now love this side of our home.

Some of my favorite hardy landscaping plants are:

1. Knock out roses
2. Monkey Grass
3. Phlox
4. Boxwood
5. Gold Mop Weeping Cypress

Mailbox Makeover

I wanted to add some curb appeal to my not so pretty mailbox without buying a new one. I found this address plate on Amazon to spruce it up a little.

Front Porch Makeover

Your homes front porch is a way to express your style to your friends and family. Each season I think it deserves a quick refresh.

I needed new planters/rug and I found some of the cutest ones on Grandin Road. I also decided to go with neutral plants and wreaths. The look is classic and gives it the refresh that it needed.

Arbor

I have always wanted an arbor and for Mother’s Day this year, I got one. I knew exactly where it was going in my yard. It helps to mark the entrance to our cozy backyard.

Choosing a climbing flower

I had so much trouble trying to decide what type of flowering vine I wanted for my arbor. After doing my research and getting feedback from all of you, I went shopping. I settled with the yellow lady banks climbing rose.

I love the delicate look of the rose and that this particular vine does not have thorns. I will update you once it starts flowering and climbing! Let’s hope it looks like this some day!!!!

Laying Sod

This was a project we didn’t plan on taking on ourselves, but it is a long story and I won’t bore you with it. 🙂 We had crabgrass taking over our front yard and decided to go ahead and pull up that part of our yard. We had sod/fertilizer delivered to our home and we immediately started laying it. It took us a couple of hours to complete. If you are interested in laying sod, here are some great tips HERE.
