Happy Holidays! Welcome to my traditional Williamsburg Christmas in Missouri. We built our home thirty-six years ago and I have always stayed true to the home’s design when decorating, even for Christmas. I’m Charlotte, and I am so delighted to be with you for the 2017 Diamonds or Pearls Christmas Tour. Please fix yourself something warm to drink and come inside to take a peek at my Christmas decor.
Outside my home, I like to keep it simple but elegant by using a pine wreath and swags with red velvet, plaid, and metallic gold bows (for a little glitter) on the door and lanterns.
Can you say “Chinoiserie!” I chose to group the blue and white jars, bowls, and plates together on my entry table. The red Amaryllis (my favorite Christmas flower) fills one of my jars, and I mix amaryllises in with the plaid bows and pine garlands going up my staircase. To get that natural feel I love in my Christmas decor, I like to use lots of pinecones on wreaths, garlands, mantels, and swags.
My most prized Christmas possession is the Santa standing by the mantel. I bought his wax face from a little artisan shop in Branson, Missouri years ago for a gift to my mother. Being the artistic person she was, she started constructing a body for his face. Next came his velvet clothing with white fox fur trim, antique glasses, and a beard of sheep’s wool. He now belongs to me.
If you look closely into his eyes, I believe they twinkle back at you!
Even if I don’t have a large group coming to dine over Christmas, I always do a place setting at each end of the table with my Christmas china, using a long runner down the middle. Why not enjoy seeing it decorate your table over the holiday!
The china is Royal Hunt by Noritake. The wildlife depicted in the china plates may also be found around the room in the art and figurines.
The Christmas stockings were lovingly cross-stitched by my mother before each daughter’s first Christmas. They have been hanging in front of our fires for years.
On the mantel I used sprayed Magnolia leaves with red mercury glass balls and sprigs of pine.
When I decorate for Christmas, I don’t like to remove too many items from shelves or tables. Instead, I like to nestle the Christmas in with them. A collection of Byers’ Choice Carolers are placed among the plate shelves in my hutch. My grandson Sloan is itching to get ahold of them! One of my favorite memories was getting to play with the nativity scene.
The Christmas tree and the mantel are decorated in shades of cranberry, orange, brown and gold, and are the focal point of the room depicting the style of our home. The decor for this room would be stags, antlers, fox, horns, and hounds.
Proudly displayed above the mantel is a Christmas gift of foxhounds on canvas given to me by my daughters.

A simple glass Christmas ornament added to a shelf brings a glow to my vignettes.
I like to decorate a seating area on the back porch with lanterns, Christmas pillows, and small pine trees.
A dish of birdseed for my Redbirds that sing to me every morning for their breakfast.
I hope you have enjoyed the tour of our traditional Williamsburg home as much as I have enjoyed showing it to you. Have a wonderful holiday. My hopeful wish for this year is peace and harmony throughout the world, and as the song says, “Let it begin with me.”
Tomorrow on the “Deck the Halls” Christmas tour, Cindy Hulsey will be inviting us into her adorable Farmhouse home. If you love Joanna Gaines style of decor, you will fall in love with Cindy’s home. She mixes old and new to make her spaces unique, with windows, doors, and architectural pieces throughout. Be sure to check it out!
