Welcome to my Country Christmas home. My name is Sharon and I live in a small rural community in southeast Missouri. The girls of Diamonds or Pearls aunt Judy was a coworker and good friend of mine.
My Christmas tour theme is taken from the Sound of Music lyrics of “these are a few of my favorite things”. Loving the Kelly Clarkson version wrapped in Red, you will find red touches in every room of our home. I love mixing Vintage with Country décor. This year I’ve been all about plaid, berries and greenery.

My Staircase and Friendship tree are decorated with years of collecting ornaments from special friends, topped with a winter scarf.

My favorite addition to our home over the years has been the fireplace and mantel built by my husband. Truly one of “my favorite things”, sitting by a warm fire with a good book or movie on.
I couldn’t resist the vintage spinning wheel which sits by the fire place.
Aside the fireplace is the family Christmas tree and my original red painted childhood rocker. It’s become a tradition in our home that after Thanksgiving dinner the grandchildren decorate the tree with ornaments from their daddy’s childhood. A Frosty hat tops the family tree.
The terrarium transformed into a seasonal theme, along with a flicker candle atop old stacked suitcases.
Our fur baby Claire Anne loves a warm fire and watching for Santa!

Our attic heirloom furniture reminds me of yester years…my centerpiece is an original wood dough bowl and spoon. My grandmother’s piece being 100 years old. I use the bowl year round changing the contents according to the season.
My black corner cabinet and hosier cabinet both hold old tins, baskets and crocks with a touch of family heirlooms. My husband’s grandfathers old pocket watch, antique eye glasses as well as an old red boot that my grandmother wore as a child.
On the wall, our Small World Rhythm clock plays Christmas music at the strike of each new hour as we anticipate the Christmas season.

In the kitchen atop the jelly cabinet is an antique butter churn and New York Business Co. Clock. A touch to the counter tops is a red tiered shelve and black serving tray.
In the hallway amidst the black and white family pictures, is an old church pew painted black, which was removed from a small one room community church. The hall table is topped with a primitive tin lamp. Beside the hall table are old wooden skis and an antique water crock used in the one room community school house. An antique ladder stands in the corner, with vintage ice skates and an old wooden trunk.

The front porch black rockers are accented with red along with my grandfather’s old milk can.
My mailbox and old rusty bicycle also change their décor with the seasons.
Lastly I share my newest conversion, a chicken coop/gardening shed. I had always dreamed of my own little shed. Now housing my gardening tools and potting supplies, and of course it needed holiday attire too!
Whether, silver white winters, dreaming of snow, warm woolen mittens, sleigh bells, snowflakes that stay on our nose and eyelashes, I’ve enjoyed sharing a few of “my favorite things”.
Ending, I share an ornament from my friendship tree, in memory and celebration of Judy’s life,
