Summer’s great, spring’s an amazing time, winter’s not too bad either, but I L-O-V-E fall. I love the cooler weather, the colors, the scents, and the tastes of fall.
Hi! I’m Heather, the 3 sisters sister-in-law. I married their amazingly wonderful brother just over 15 years ago. I feel so honored to be featured on their blog. I hope I don’t disappoint. In fact, I get much of my inspiration from the girls and their mother, Linda. Another significant inspiration in my life is Linda’s sister, the girl’s aunt, Judy. Although she is no longer with us, she still inspires me in many ways. Home decor is just one.
The outdoors are one of my favorite places to be, so I have brought them in with mums this year. I love the coloring of these that I found. The goldenrod and apricot with a hint of crimson really pop on my fireplace. And of course, you have to have a few pumpkins, real or artificial, when decorating for fall. The two black cats are hand-me-downs from Judy. I love how they add a little Halloween flair.

With the cooler fall weather I can get my oven going again. A few years back my husband went hunting in northern Missouri and stayed with a friend’s family. While there he was served beer bread. He loved it so much he asked for the recipe. The other hunters had a good time poking fun at him for his request, but it was so worth it. Each fall and winter we prepare this many times to go with the fresh dove, venison, and duck my husband and son love to hunt. I have shared with you this super simple, three ingredient recipe.
Beer Bread
3 C self-rising flour
1 C sugar
1 beer
Non-stick spray butter, or oil to grease the pan
Preheat oven to 375. Grease the loaf pan. Combine the flour, sugar, and beer. It will be a tad lumpy and will look more like batter than a bread dough. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and bake for 45-55 minutes. Check for done by piercing the center of the loaf with a toothpick. When it comes out dry your delicious bread is done. Serve with a pat of butter for a yummy sweet fall treat.

And now, with the decorating complete and the bread baked, I’m going to light a pumpkin scented candle, sit back, and relax with a book. I always like to get into the spirit and read something a little spooky this time of year. I have chosen Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I may even have a taste test of that bread… HAPPY FALL!!!
Next on the house tour is Sarah and I can’t wait to see her beautiful home.
Love, Heather
