Spring 2022 One Room Challenge: Week 7
The Faux Brick Wall with German Smear
This week we worked hard getting the faux brick wall panels up. It took a little longer than expected since we cut them out like a puzzle to give the wall a more realistic look.
We used mortar to fill in for the cutout seams and then did a german smear on top of the entire panel.
We didn’t do a whole cover with the smear because we wanted the brick to have a historic feel like something you would see in a New York brownstone. Once it dried, I didn’t love how it looked. I was almost sick because this process was so time-consuming, and there was no way to take it off.
We then decided to sand it, exposing more of the brick and seeing less smear.
The result was much better!
Sneak Peek of the Swivel Chair
I wanted to give you a sneak peek of this Modern Barrel Swivel Chair by Wovenbyrd that will be making an appearance in the study once it’s finished. It will make a statement in all the right ways, giving this room a masculine and modern feel. I can’t wait to start pulling everything together!
Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check back next week for the reveal! EEK! I can hardly wait! You can also follow other One Room Challenge designers as they make over rooms in their homes. There are so many inspiring spaces!
