What is the One Room Challenge?
The One Room Challenge is a widely anticipated biannual event. It was started by Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home, and the media sponsor is Better Homes & Gardens. Each round, 20 featured designers will transform a space and document the process while sharing their sources and advice. Many guest participants will join the fun and also transform a room in 8 weeks. This challenge has so much interior design inspiration, ideas, and so much encouragement.
ORC Week 5 Update:
I had planned to do the overlay on the glass sliding closet doors, install the light and the swing. Unfortunately, I’m still waiting on these items and had to change my weekly plan around. I’m crossing my fingers I get everything by this weekend and we can knock it all out.
I still made the best of my time and accomplished some of the smaller things on my list.
Before making over this room, it was rather boring but functional. It was a nice spot for our guests but just lacked the cozy factor! It was definitely time for a change! I always love seeing how far a room has come in such a short time, and I’m not finished yet!
week 5 Progress
1. I sprayed the existing curtain rod pure gold by Rustoleum. This is my go-to brand of spray paint! It made a world of difference and elevated the look of the rod.
2. The curtain panels I made for Madeleine’s nursery just two years ago are still some of my favorites. I decided not to buy new ones and use what I have, and I’m so glad I did. They look perfect! I have a tutorial on how to make a curtain panel HERE.
3. I have bought a few accessories for her room I found at Home Goods. Some of my favorites that I found online are below.
Blush Buffalo Plaid Pillow Cover
Painted Ballerina by Minted
Ceramic Planter with Painted Face
White Flower Lamp
