Hello, and welcome back! Today’s post I’ve promised for so long and I’m so excited to finally be sharing with you all the Nursery Update & Gender of Baby Whitener.
Drumroll……It’s a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!
We will be welcoming a baby girl named Madeleine Rose on July 4th. We are ecstatic and can’t wait for her arrival! Joseph is going to be the best big brother and he is already getting lots of practice with his cousin Ashlyn. I love watching him interact with her!
Madeleine’s Nursery Details
It has been so much fun planning the details of the nursery and getting everything ready for her arrival. I still have a few more projects to do before I am complete and I’m not moving very quickly these days…haha!
The nursery has a French/traditional feel with a neutral palette. I wanted Madeleine’s room to be soothing, bright with a little frill and some touches of blush and gold accents throughout. The layering of textures and patterns creates the perfect mix of elegance, comfort, and simplicity.
Below is the basic look of the room with a few minor changes. Design boards are the perfect way to see a space before purchasing a ton of things and having to return them if they don’t work out. I’ll do a blog post at a later date on how to create one for yourself. They are a lot of fun to make!

Crib – My sister was kind to pass down her daughter’s adorable gray Pottery Barn Crib, so I didn’t have to buy one. I have linked a similar one.
White Side Table – Every nursery needs a side table beside the chair. This will be a great place for storing any overflow.
Mirror – The French mirror I chose is a beautiful accessory for this space.
Wall Sconce – I’m in love with these sconces and used the Nesting with Grace light trick. You can view that blog post HERE.
Pendant Light Fixture – I love the openness of this light and that it adds that gold accent I am trying to pull throughout the room.
Ruffle Crib skirt – This was the perfect choice for that little bit of frill I wanted for this space.
Rug – I searched everywhere for a rug and decided to just settle with this one from Overstock. It adds that pop of blush I was wanting for this space. Other options – HERE & HERE
White Flower Picture – This is similar to the adorable porcelain flower shadow box that I found at Home Goods.
Bamboo Roman Shades – These add that right amount of texture to the window. I use these blinds in almost every room of my home.
Fabric – I went back and forth between this print and a blush-colored print. I chose this because of the neutral colors. I plan to add some adorable blush bows to the top of the panel.
Restoration Hardware Leather Chair – This chair is like a bed!! I bought this for my son’s nursery and can’t tell you how many nights I slept in it. It is the perfect cozy chair for a nursery. I have the color cocoa.
Storage Basket – Every nursery needs lots of baskets for storage and this one from Target is too cute.
Gray Antique Dresser – I always add something old in every room of my house and decided to go with an antique dresser to add some character to the nursery.
Paint Colors – Both Benjamin Moore colors were inspired by one of my favorite bloggers (Rachel Parcell’s) new home. I love how bright and soothing they are in this space. Wall Color – Gray Mist and Door Color – Boothbay Gray
I will be making the curtains this week and finishing up painting the antique dresser I found at a local thrift shop. I can’t wait to show you the final reveal when I am complete.

Congratulations Michelle!! She’s going to be one lucky little girl. Love her name??
Michelle Whitener says
Thank you so much, Lindsay. It took us so long to decide on a name. I actually thought we would be bringing her home from the hospital without one…haha.
