Welcome to our Ranch Christmas!
My name is Jane, and my husband, Don, and I would like to welcome you to our home on our longhorn cattle ranch on the Suwannee River in north Florida.
One of my favorite things about Christmas in Florida is being able to decorate with fresh poinsettias outdoors.
Welcome! Come on in!
Be sure to pause for a kiss under the mistletoe. I love being able to gather it fresh. It’s everywhere on the ranch!
The nativity is such an important part of our Christmas décor. We never want to forget the reason we are celebrating.
We found this beautiful, rustic set when we were visiting upstate New York and the Adirondacks a few years ago.
The Great Room
This is where we begin our mornings when it’s cool enough to have a fire. So cozy and we do get some cool weather in this part of Florida. Being from Missouri, we miss the seasons, and always hope for a cold snap at Christmas!
You can see Don’s music room in these shots. This room was designed to be
able to pull back the beautiful pecky cypress barn doors and have a concert!
We love collecting ornaments on our travels. This one is from Alaska.
Kitchen
I love having one large room. The kitchen window is one of my favorite features of the house.
I love it when the longhorns are close. We’ve also seen deer, wild turkey, coyote and fox squirrels. I had never seen these large squirrels- some of them are black with a white head and gray bushy tail! I can’t forget the birds. Among others, there are 3 huge pileated woodpeckers that frequently visit together. You can tell that I’m an animal lover.
I’ve had this little towel since we first got the ranch, almost 20 years ago, and just had the little river cabin to stay in.
Dining Room
This little manger scene was a gift from our daughter-in-law when she visited Salzburg, Austria. Such workmanship!
The Den
This is where we spend most of our time.
I’ve been collecting these Frosty Friends Hallmark ornaments since my mother first began getting them for me in the early 1980’s. I love displaying them all together but I am going to have to get a larger tree soon! The larger, special editions go on our family tree with all our other special ornaments that we’ve collected over the years.
I love this electric fireplace. I can even turn the heat off and have a fire in the summer.
This little hurricane arrangement was the very first Christmas decoration that I bought when we got married in 1976.
Master Bedroom
This is the first year that we’ve had a tree in our bedroom and we love it. Don said that it was his favorite tree. I’m kind of proud of it because I flocked it myself. I’m not a crafty person at all, but this was so easy!
I love this little powder bath and the rustic wood vanity. The corners are old fence posts! The mirror is from Homegoods. I’ve found some fantastic things there.
Guest Room
We love to have guests and have tried to make the guest room as inviting as possible. The settee is a glider!
Grandkids Room Downstairs
We have a girls and boys “grandkids” room downstairs that we’re still putting finishing touches on, but I had to decorate a little.
I’ve been collecting these singing snowmen for the past 10 years and the grandkids love to get them singing all at once!
A favorite scripture that I found on a visit to Branson, Missouri.
The East Entry
This is the east entry, that we use most of the time. Notice the basket of blankets that we use when we go on Ranger and Mule (Kawasaki) rides around the ranch.
Back Porch
We really enjoy snuggling up with some blankets and watching a Christmas movie by the fire.
I love my southern Christmas tree out here. The only thing that I purchased was the red berries. The cotton came from a friends field in south Georgia and I gathered the vines and magnolia pods on the ranch!
Since our boys all have families of their own and live 90 miles away from everyone, they all come out on December 23 and spend the night. After feeding the six grandkids, we usually go drive through the lights at Spirit of the Suwannee. We come back, and everyone opens one gift – pajamas! After the kids are in bed, the adults have appetizers, and adult kids exchange gifts. The next morning, little ones open gifts from Gran and Grandad, and we then open their gifts to us. After brunch, everyone heads back to their homes in Jacksonville.
We hope that you’ve enjoyed a look into our home. We love sharing it and
having parties, but with the pandemic this year, this is a really nice way to share.
A special thank you to Kim Alexis Studios, LLC for the beautiful pictures.
Thank you so much, Michelle, for inviting me to be part of the tour. I always look forward to the tour every year and it was a joy to participate.
Tomorrow on the 2020 Christmas tour is Danielle from MO. Danielle will be showing us around the most adorable Silo that her husband built on their property two years ago. They wanted to share with others the calm and serene feel that their property invites. The Silo is full of character and charm, with so many unique details to take in. Danielle even decked it out for the holidays for her guests to enjoy. It is going to be a real treat to tour this amazing Silo in the morning.

Wow, what a beautiful home! That entry with tall columns and all those windows is a show stopper. Their kitchen is perfection. And that music room is everything!!
For Christmas decor, I especially loved the back porch tree with special hand-picked, simplistic beauty, as well as the first bought hurricane Christmas decor. And all the trees look beautiful lit up at night.
